The reference for this drawing was a photo of my daughter and a mini horse named Copper. It was her first time really working one on one with a horse of any size. She was leading him back to his little paddock and was filled with such pride. Like peas in a pod, those two were.

We met Copper at Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center. He was an ornery but likable mini and loved a good carrot.

The reference photo was in a parking lot with lots of cars. I left them out to focus on the dynamic duo here. Love the swish in Copper’s tail, the back-lighting of my daughter’s hair and Copper’s peek over his shoulder.
