Gilded Pears

14″ x 11″
Uart 600 paper
various soft pastels

My continuing┬átheme of light and subject interacting. Not as close-up or detailed in reference so I let the hues and values take center stage and be the details. I love the pear on the left! The the values really sing and it’s physical isolation from the other two really draw my attention.

I can imagine here that these pears represent people. Possible background stories play in my head. The left intently focused on the foreground. The foreground laying down, in crisis. The center is focused somewhere off the canvas, aloof or focused on the past.

This painting was donated to the Patrons’ Party Fundraiser at CAL!
